HOW IT WORKS
Ingredients are mixed via friction.
Ingredients are combined slowly.
Ingredients are poured together.
02
The friction of shaking liquid against ice causes it to melt, causing dilution of the alcohol, reducing the drink's strength.
03
Gentler than shaking. The ingredients are slowly stirred with a long bar spoon. Slower movement yields less dilution.
04
Built-in-the-glass drinks are quick, efficient cocktails with just two or three ingredients.
06
There are other drink techniques that can be used in addition to the three methods.
05
A base may be shaken or stirred, strained into a glass and then topped with a built layer of bubbles, like club soda.
07
Muddled drinks include fresh ingredients like herbs or fruits, that are smashed and then shaken with other ingredients.
08
A float is a layer created by slowly pouring liquor over the back of a bar spoon. Lighter alcohols will float to the top.
